Since 2015 successive Club management committees have consulted widely to develop a new, broader vision for the Club which aligns with Community needs and expectations. Described below are some of the events and activities which align with the community’s vision of the Club as a recreational resource for North Stradbroke Island.
Free Golf Clinics
North Stradbroke Island Golf Club conduct several free golf clinics every year. Clinics for juniors and adult golfers are held using a PGA professional that visits the island to conduct the clinics.
Every holiday period the club conducts the MMEIC Holiday program which is open to all school children.

NSIGC Minjerribah Photography Awards
North Stradbroke Island Golf Club hosts the annual Minjerribah Photography Awards. The competition’s Open section prize honours Minjerribah elders and NSI Golf Club founding members, the late Aunty Margaret and Uncle Pat Iselin. Aunty Margaret was the first golfer to score a hole in one on the 12th hole.
The course is home to an abundance of wildlife including Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Swamp Wallabies, Koala, Stone Curlews, Rainbow Bee Eaters and Glossy Black Cockatoos and is in full bloom with native flowers come late winter / early spring. This year’s theme for the photography competition is birds. The club has a trail guide and visitors are welcome to visit at any time.

Community Hub
When Cyclone Alfred hit in March 2025, the whole of North Stradbroke Island lost power for several days and the Golf Club become a community hub for all.
At the Golf Club, the generator purred, the coffee was hot, and meals were cooked by volunteers. Those with no power at home took up the option to enjoy the comfort and support available at the clubhouse.
Over the course of several days, people chatted, children played, and all relaxed before beginning the tasks of cleaning up as the weather cleared. None of this would have been possible if the State Government had not funded the club’s Power Continuity Project in 2023.
As part of the club’s Risk Management and Assessment planning, the club identified the need for continual power at the golf club during times of natural disaster. Fortunately, the Government, through Tourism Queensland, could see the need and funded the club’s project.
